A Greek-British Wedding in Mani | DJ Seitan at Chara’s Houses, Skoutari
“You matched our vibe and energy and we had the best party of all time. All of our friends made comments on how good the music was!!!!!” – Elena, married 29/05/2025
When Will Found DJ Seitan on SoundCloud
Some bookings start with a form. This one started with a Spotify playlist of 108 tracks.
Will and Elena were getting married in Skoutari, a quiet village on the Laconian Gulf in deep Mani. Elena is from Thessaloniki. Will is from Bristol. Their guest list of 65 included Greeks, Brits and friends from across Europe and their musical taste was anything but standard.
Will reached out in February 2025 with a message that immediately stood out: “I wanted to find a DJ who wasn’t just a corporate wedding DJ.” He had found my SoundCloud mixes and felt they matched what he was looking for. I spent 20 minutes going through all 108 tracks on his playlist before I replied.
Reggae. Funk. Afrobeat. Dub. Buena Vista Social Club for dinner. Nightmares on Wax for the party. Talking Heads, Bob Dylan, Manu Dibango, Donna Summer. This was my alter ego as a DJ, music I play at alternative bars, rarely at weddings. Challenge accepted.
The Setting: Chara’s Houses, Skoutari
Chara’s Houses is a small, beautiful property right on the water in Skoutari, Gytheio. Stone walls, olive trees, a private beach, and a wooden dance floor under a pergola, far from the typical wedding venue. No grand ballroom. No marble staircase. Just the Laconian Gulf in front of you and the mountains of Mani behind.

The ceremony took place on the private beach at 4:30 pm, with two versions of Eleni Karaindrou’s Eternity and a Day as the soundtrack for the walk down the aisle, first for the bridesmaids, then for Elena. It was one of those moments where the music, the sea and the occasion all came together perfectly.
I arrived the day before to inspect the space with wedding planner Georgia Tsiotou from Mani Deco. We had decisions to make, sound coverage across different areas, placement of the DJ booth under the olive trees, a disco ball on a stand, two LED moving heads. By the time guests arrived, everything was in its place.
The Music: From Eleni Karaindrou to Yellowman
Dinner was set to the sounds of Buena Vista Social Club, Cesaria Evora, Sam Cooke and Afro Cuban All Stars, a warm, unhurried soundtrack for a long Mediterranean evening.
Then came the party.
Elena and Will’s must-play list was unlike anything I typically see at a wedding: Cumbia, Dub, 70s Disco, Funk, Reggae, DnB, Pop. Their first dance was Upside Down by Carol Cool, not a typical wedding ballad, but exactly right for this couple.
The Greek guests brought energy from the very first song. The British guests needed a few tracks to warm up and then they never stopped. By midnight, the dance floor under the olive trees was packed, the disco ball was spinning, and nobody wanted it to end.
“We trust your judgement. Just want to have a good time on the day so playing some of our tunes plus reading the crowd, we are sure everyone would have the best time.” Elena & Will, before the wedding

About the Venue
